Don’t Rush: Essential Steps for Receiving a Coil Delivery

4 essential steps for receiving a replacement HVAC coil delivery

At Cooney Technologies, we know freight claims can be a hassle. A few simple steps at delivery make the whole process smoother and protect your claim if something arrives damaged.

Don't rush to sign the Bill of Lading (BOL). Take your time to inspect and count the items before signing off and letting the driver leave. If you notice significant damage on arrival, you have the option to decline the delivery and ask for it to be returned.

Time matters

You have just 5 business days to discover and report non-visible freight damage to the carrier.

Your receiving checklist

  1. 1
Inspect the package for damage. Check both the coil and the wood packaging. Be thorough.
  2. 2
Note any damage on the BOL. This documentation is critical for a successful claim.
  3. 3
Record the count and condition. This information is invaluable during the claims process.
  4. 4
Take clear photos of all damage. Good pictures can make or break your claim.

If you find damage after signing the BOL

  • Contact our customer service team at Cooney Technologies right away.
  • Notify the carrier in writing within 5 business days of delivery for your claim to be valid.
Don't toss it

Keep the damaged goods and their original packaging available for inspection until the claim is resolved.

Skipping these steps can make it difficult to get a freight claim approved by the carrier. We're here to help, and we want this process to be as easy as possible for you.
