At Cooney Technologies, we believe work isn't just about hitting numbers and crossing off to-do lists. That stuff matters, but so does building relationships and bonding as a team over a good dose of fun. Work is better when it's fun.
So we hit pause and decided it was time for a change of scenery. We packed our bags and took the whole team down to sunny Orlando. Time to swap office chairs for loungers by the pool.
Thursday: Touchdown
Our team flew into Orlando in waves and checked into our Airbnb. We kicked off the retreat with food and drinks by the pool while watching Thursday night football. It was a great chance for everyone to catch up on what had been happening in each other's lives.
Friday: Mud, jet skis, and a scavenger hunt
Friday started with a trip to Revolution Off Road for some fun and games. It turned into an amazing day with some muddy moments. Matt and Jerry won the dirtiest-person award, and a few of the team ended up taking a dip in the lake to rinse off. Lucky for them, the Florida gators were nowhere to be seen. After lunch, we moved on to jet ski rides and a mostly friendly game of archery tag.
The evening brought a scavenger hunt showdown back at the house, led by team captains Matt H. and Bezzy. Teams raced to guess state slogans, hunt for hidden clues, and solve puzzles. We wrapped the day with a gourmet four-course meal cooked by a private chef and a competitive round of Cooney Technologies Jeopardy in the movie theater.
Saturday: Orlando, your way
Saturday was a day to explore Orlando on each person's own terms. Some went bass fishing, others opted for a chill day at the spa or poolside, and a few adventurous souls ventured into the world of Disney.
Sunday: Heading home
After a weekend full of fun, we wrapped up our team building and headed home on Sunday. Taking time away from work to bond as a team was exactly what we needed.
Work is better when it's fun. That's not a perk to us, it's part of how we operate.
